Buckingham Palace - Buckingham
House, as it was first called, was built by the
1st Duke of Buckingham between 1702 and 1705,
and bought by George III in 1762. After its considerable
enlargement by John Nash, George IV renamed it
Buckingham Place. Queen Victoria added further
extensions to the Palace during the 1840's and
1850's. The Palace, opens only for two months
in a year, is a mine of priceless art treasures,
ornaments, porcelain, tapestries and furniture,
including the Coronation Throne of our present
Queen.
This tour finishes around 1.pm at Victoria.
